Ruchi Awasthi is a seasoned Machine Learning Scientist currently working at Pure Storage in the GenAI R&D team, where she focuses on building scalable Generative AI-based products. With a Bachelor’s degree from IIT Roorkee, she graduated as the 2nd rank holder in her department and received the prestigious Convocation Award for Best Final Year Thesis along with an annual academic scholarship. Ruchi also has a research paper titled "Automated skin lesion segmentation using attention-based deep convolutional neural network" featured in the journal Biomedical Signal Processing and Control (Elsevier). This work showcases her expertise in advanced deep learning techniques and their applications in the medical field, achieving state-of-the-art results in skin lesion segmentation.

Before joining Pure Storage, Ruchi served as a Senior Data Scientist at Unacademy, where she led a team to develop and deploy large-scale personalized recommendation solutions for 250,000 users daily. Ruchi's professional journey also includes a tenure at JP Morgan Chase & Co. as a Quantitative Research Analyst, where she played a key role in financial modeling and infrastructure migration projects. Ruchi has a proven track record of working with companies of various scales, ranging from early-stage startups like FlyNava to large corporations like MakeMyTrip and multinational corporations like JP Morgan Chase & Co. She has tackled diverse data science problem statements across different domains, including text processing, image analysis, recommendation systems, ranking algorithms, and statistical models.
